According to V.C.Misra, 'COURT-QUALIFIED Forensic Handwriting Fingerprint Expert', following PRECAUTIONS may be taken
before assigning a matter related to Document/Handwriting case. It is safer to discuss with expert about-
a-  Court required qualifications, training as Apprentice under any Document Expert(as per Judgment)

b-  Experience of Court appearance, cross-examination, years of  practice,nos. of cases, (summons of Courts are only proof, as SUMMON is issued by Courts to call Expert Witness, in his name)

c-   How expert would proceed?
adequacy of exemplars, dates of Disputed/ Known writings, line of action,  numbers and nature of comparatives & methods of demonstration, which kind of photography will be done, in different problems.    

d-  A prima-facie '5-15 lines' short report with reasons on e-mail may give the idea of expert's real knowledge.

e-  A written undertaking from Expert to know whether the same expert would appear in       Court. Ask 'Name' of Expert, becsuse no other person may be allowed in Court for deposition on oath.

f-   Necessity of filing 'rough notes' in Court (as per Court Ruling).

g-  Discuss whether the document is original or copy & whether the opinion would be 'conclusive' or 'probable'?
Ask what are those 'Limitations in Handwriting Identification Science', whether those will be   considered in writing reports.

Experts must know "Limitations".

Section 45 I.E.A.- relates to only 'Handwriting & Finger Impressions'- "not with all branches of forensic sciences."

"There is only provision of section 45 I.E.A in India", which permits for these two opinions by freelancing/independent Experts.
